Threat Track
Threat Maxed
When the threat marker reaches the end of the track, the invasion intensifies. The leftmost Invasion token is flipped — Martians are one step closer to victory.
First Token Flipped
Flip the leftmost face-down Invasion token (placed randomply). It becomes active and may enable new card effects based on its symbol.
Conditional Card Effects
Some Martian cards have effects tied to specific symbols. If the matching Invasion token is face-up, these effects now apply.
Threat Resets
After flipping a token, reset the threat marker to the start. The Martian invasion will continue to escalate in the next rounds.
Fields & Alien tokens
Start with 8 Tokens
Martians begin the game with 8 Alien Tokens. These represent control over the battlefield and are placed on fields.
Marked Fields
A field with 1 or more Alien Tokens is considered occupied. Some Martian effects only work if a field is occupied.
Token Placement
Cards like Splitting Beam place tokens on adjacent fields around the Martians.
After Maneuver
After a maneuver, a nearby hero may remove 1 Alien Token from an adjacent field (if present).
No Tokens? Raise Threat
If tokens are unavailable when a card tries to place them, increase the threat by 1 per missing token.
